Dhaka Tribune reports: Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh, Major General Shafeenul Islam, gave the assurance after inspecting the temporary BGB camp at Patiya upazila in Chittagong on Sunday. Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Major General Shafeenul Islam, has assured that the atmosphere for holding the December 30 general election will be peaceful and expected that the polls will be held in a free and fair manner.He gave the assurance after inspecting the temporary BGB camp at Patiya upazila in Chittagong on Sunday. "The environment has been made favourable for a free and peaceful election. The BGB is fully prepared to face any untoward situation during the election. As many as 1,115 platoons of BGB will remain alert as a precaution. Of them, 145 platoons will remain deployed in the Chittagong region," said the BGB chief.
